Switched - the first book in the Trylle Trilogy... When Wendy Everly was six-years-old, her mother was convinced she was a monster and tried to kill her. Torn – the second book in the Trylle Trilogy… Wendy thought she finally understood who she was and what she wanted, but everything changes when the rival Vittra come after her.  She’s caught between two worlds, torn between love and duty, and she must decide what life she is going to lead.

Oh my… I’m not sure where to begin or even what to say.  This is the second series/trilogy that I’m reading by Amanda Hocking and in a word WOW!  I’m just taken with this genius author!!  She’s absolutely phenomenal!  I can’t stop turning those pages.   I’m not getting any sleep!!  Last night it was 1:30 am and I have to be up at 5:00 am.  It’s ridiculous how absorbed I am in the book that I don’t even hear what’s going on around me.  I swear a tornado could come and I would be oblivious to it all.
The story is entirely (for lack of a better word) fresh.  I know I use that word a lot, but seriously this is the first book that I’ve read about trolls.  How new is that?  Not since Rumplestiltskin (spl?) It’s an AWESOME story of adventure, danger, betrayal, lies and love.
The characters are so fantastic that you just… feel them.  I’m so in love with Finn that’s it’s pathetic.  I’m just into this story that I’m saddened by how things are playing out but I just hope and pray that things are going to be amazing in the final book, which, by the way, I have to WAIT for and that drives me insane!!  LOL  It’s called Ascend and it will be out in January 2011 and I might be rushing Christmas away but I don’t care… I want January to be here now so I can read this book!!
There aren’t too many stories out there that make me so emotional that tears are actually forming while I’m reading.   That’s not to say that there aren’t stories themselves that warrant those feelings from me, but the way they’re told they don’t bring tears to my eyes.   This author knows how to tell the story to bring out all of the emotions that come with it.  I’m furious when my favourite characters are furious and when heartbreaking things happen I’m actually tearing up and that NEVER happens to me.  It’s different with a move, but I very rarely get that emotional with a book.   I’m also constantly thinking about the characters when I’m not reading.  It stays with me.
Amanda Hocking is simply phenomenal!!!!  ~ she does have to get people to proof read the books for errors though.  A lot of grammatical editing that needs to be done, but the story is so good that it overshadows this minor flaw.    I’ve stopped reading books for this same reason but I don’t think anything could stop me from reading these books.   I LOVE THIS AUTHOR!!!

About Amanda Hocking

I live in Minnesota, and I write young adult paranormal romance and urban fantasy mostly. The My Blood Approves series is about vampires in Minneapolis, and its available now. I also wrote the Trylle Trilogy, which is a paranormal romance without vampires, shifters, mermaids, fae, angels, dragons, ghosts, or ninjas.

My latest book is Hollowland – a zombie urban fantasy set in the dystopian near future. It’s a bit more violent and gritter than my other books, but there is still romance. Mostly though, Remy kicks a lot of butt.

I also enjoy Red Bull, Jim Henson, Batman, Jane Austen, Star Wars legos, and I absolutely hate long walks on the beach out of my intense fear/hatred of wet sand

My favorite authors are Kurt Vonnegut, Chuck Palahniuk, Bret Easton Ellis, Alan Moore, and J. D. Salinger, but I don’t write anything like them. I have an obsession with River Phoenix, and I’ve seen Silence of the Lambs more than any other movie, even The Dark Knight. If I were trapped on a deserted island, the one thing I’d take with me would be a boat capable for taking me home.

I’m also the guitarist in a band called the Fraggin Aardvarks, and even though its even twice as cool as it sounds, we haven’t had a practice in like two years, so I’m not sure that technically we are still a band. But we never broke up, and it’s an awesome thing to tell people, so I’m sticking with it. (We even had a synethesizer!)
