Jack Barnes and Sam Fleetwood have been best friends since they met in foster care. They share a business as cattle ranchers and a house. All they need now is a woman to share.

The men are sure they've found that woman when Abigail Moore returns to Willow Fork, Texas. Abby left her hometown twenty years before under a cloud of scandal. She's raised a daughter, forged a new life for herself, and is ready for the next phase when she meets the handsome cowboys. They're a dream come true; Jack is the sexy Dom, and Sam the playful lover. It's everything she's ever fantasized about. There's only one problem. She's still not welcome in Willow Fork, and someone is willing to kill to keep her away. ** A Siren Erotic Romance

I have already reviewed some or all of these books in the Texas Sirens or Bliss series on this blog and I don’t want to add to the existing posts so I guess I’m going to do a “follow-up” post on each as I read them again.  You will find the original review here… Small Town Siren.

Lexi Blake has or is in the process of RE-RELEASING this entire series as well as the Bliss series.  She recently (2017) earned the rights back to her books in these two series and now that she has she is re-releasing them with a little bit of editing in each book.  The additions is because she is now bringing the worlds of Bliss and Texas Sirens and joining them up to the Masters and Mercenaries world.  The heart of each story is not changing, but in order to introduce some characters from the M&M world she had to rewrite and add some scenes.

Some people may not care about this, but this is like a personal Christmas present to me each and every time she re-releases the next book.  I adore all three of these series.  Bliss and Texas Sirens are already linked with characters crossing both series, but now we get to see some M&M characters in there as well and my heart can hardly take it I’m so excited.

If you read my first review of Small Town Siren you will already know that I loved this book.  I have read the original at least 4 times and maybe more.  I have lost count.  I have to say this time it was even better!  Maybe because it’s been awhile since reading it, or maybe because of the anticipation of the worlds merging.  Or maybe it’s simply because I cannot get enough of Sophie Oak/Lexi Blake.

Whatever the reason this book and this entire series is very much worth every penny to re-buy it.  Especially if you are already a Masters and Mercenaries fan, then you will not regret it.   You do not HAVE to re-buy it, the story is the same, but that little extra (for me anyway) is worth it.

It is always nice to go back and read about Jack, Sam and Abby.  They were the first characters I read from Sophie Oak before I realized her and Lexi Blake were one and the same.  These guys will never get old!  Love them!

As always, Lexi Blake/Sophie Oak is a genius author.  I love a lot of different authors and I read a LOT and yet Lexi Blake is still my number one favourite of all time.  She doesn’t just write characters by giving them a name and a few characteristics and then leave it up to you to figure out what he looks and sounds like.  Lexi Blake takes it a few hundred steps further and actually gives her characters yummy hearty substance.  Her characters all have their own voice and their own originality that is unmistakable.

Just to clarify what I mean, here is an example: In the book I’m currently reading (Siren In the City, Texas Siren #2) she brings Ian Taggart from Masters and Mercenaries in one of the scenes.  I knew it was him before I even saw his name simply by “HEARING” his voice as the words ran across the page.  He has a certain something about him that makes him unique and you always know it’s him.

I know I’m just gushing on the author now, but it is very hard not to with her!

This year is going to be epic with all of the new releases and re-releases from Lexi Blake and/or Sophie Oak… not to mention all the 1001 Dark Nights releases.  EPIC and I am here for every step of that ride!

About Sophie Oak

A lifetime devotee to the written word, Sophie published her first novel this year. Prior to becoming a novelist, she worked in theater and comic books. She lives in Fort Worth, Texas with her husband and three precocious children, who wonder when mom is going to write a book they will be allowed to read. Her answer: probably never. Sophie believes in happy endings for everyone, no matter how extreme the story. Her stories may feature some of the fringe elements of sexuality, but at heart they are always about love.
