She’s a lone wolf with a cause:
As a volunteer at a shelter for lone shifters—the same one that rescued her— Makenna Wray has dedicated her life to finding homes for its residents. And when she discovers that a teen in her care is related to Ryan Conner, the broody, handsome-as-sin enforcer of the Phoenix Pack, she’s eager to help connect the two. She just wasn’t prepared to feel a connection of her own.
Lone wolves are loners for a reason—and most of them bad ~ Or so Ryan assumes until he meets the mysterious Makenna. Quirky and sensual, she seems to enjoy riling him, especially when she refuses to discuss her past. Although there is no mating bond, he’s sure she’s the one. All he has to do is be patient and wait. But when another pack’s sinister Alpha comes sniffing around, threatening Makenna and her shelter, this enforcer is ready to let his wolf off the leash…
Savage Urges is (the long awaited) book #5 in The Phoenix Pack series by Suzanna Wright!
I LOVE this series so much!
We finally get Ryan’s story! I’m so happy about this. I knew there was more to Ryan and his almost mute grumpiness. He’s been a fantastic character throughout the series and now I love him even more.
Makenna and her witty and humourous character traits completely fits into the Phoenix Pack! Hell yeah, she’s awesome! Totally kick-ass character! Yes, her sarcasm is to cover her feelings, but damn she does it so well. She fits right in with the Alpha female, Taryn and the two can really get on Greta’s nerves! So much fun!
Ryan, if you’ve read the previous books (and I encourage you do so) you’ll know that he’s a brooding enforcer for Trey’s pack, but very loyal and someone you want to be on your side. We have the rest of his story and he’s phenomenal!
We got to meet a few new characters and they all seem really great and there are even a couple of additions to the Phoenix pack in the way of children… and different types of shifters at that. Can’t wait for those stories to develop! Trey’s pack is growing stronger every day and he’s surrounding himself and his pack with extremely loveable and loyal family members and extended family members with other packs.
Great storyline! Makenna helps out at a shelter specific for lone shifters. These are shifters that have no place in packs for one reason or another. Most wolves do not trust lone shifters and find them dangerous. This story brings to light a whole other side as to why they are on their own and alone. It’s not always their fault and most times it’s down right criminal how they were treated or ousted from their packs.
Makenna has such a story herself and she helps out a wolf, that turned out to be Ryan’s relative, in a similar situation. She connects Zac to Ryan and in the meantime finds herself falling for Ryan and his pack. The shelter is in danger of being taken over by a nasty pack alpha for selfish and sick reasons and Ryan offers his help and his pack jumps in as well.
I love the flow of the writing and the dialogue is hilarious! I love how Suzanne Wright brings back previous characters so that they aren’t forgotten about. I love everything about this series… except for the wait between books! So much so, that when I finished this book I picked up book #1 and have decided to re-read the series again. Trey & Taryn’s story is book #1 and oh my gosh I forgot how much fun it was!
In A Nutshell:
I found only one thing that sort of bummed me out… and I can’t even really talk about it because I don’t want to spoil anything. I’ll just say that I was waiting for something to happen and it finally did, but it was overshadowed by something else. Still couldn’t tear my eyes from the pages though, so it’s hardly worth mentioning anyway.
You can read this book as a standalone, but I wouldn’t recommend it! If you did you would be missing out on 4 other books in the series and they are so worth reading! Read them all! They’re amazing!
