The sizzling second novel in a sexy new contemporary romance series featuring the Lawless siblings—from New York Times bestselling author Lexi Blake.
Brandon Lawless is a man on a mission to obtain the information that will clear his father’s name. He’s willing to do whatever it takes—even seduce his enemy’s personal assistant, the beautiful and innocent Carly Hendricks. But with her beguiling smile and captivating intelligence, Brandon soon realizes he doesn’t want to deceive Carly, he wants to win her over—both in the boardroom and the bedroom.
Then a twisted crime leaves Carly vulnerable and Brandon finds himself reeling. The stakes of his mission are now life or death—Carly’s life. And Brandon realizes he’s lost his heart to an amazing woman and his plan must succeed, because the stakes are no longer just revenge, but a once in a lifetime love.

I have been MIA so I haven’t posted a review in quite some time. I honestly haven’t even been reading at all either. A lot of family issues have been going on and usually that doesn’t stop me from reading, but quite honestly I haven’t picked up a book in a couple of months.
Just this week I finally finished this awesome book. I started it back in January, but stopped reading and then just got back into it this week. I certainly did not stop reading because it wasn’t good. Matter of fact it was fantastic!
So let’s get this thing started!
This series is another spin-off series from Masters and Mercenaries and we all know what a huge fan I am of that series. This is no different. Lexi has a way of making you fall in love with each and every single character she writes about and I don’t think there is a book out there that she has had her hands into that I don’t love.
The Lawless series is about four siblings seeking revenge on the people who killed their parents and almost killed all four kids too. The intention was there, but Drew managed to get them all out alive and has spent every waking moment since plotting and planning his revenge. He has dragged the other three into his plans and as much as they are wanting the same thing as Drew they all don’t have the same passion about it that he does. They all support him, but I think they all wish he would let it go. Family is extremely important to all four but for Drew it’s family and revenge for his family.
Brandon (Bran) Lawless is the epitome of a kind and gentle nature… unless you are a guy and you intend to do harm to someone he loves. I love love love LOVE this character! He has (sort of) PTSD. He was a kid that got caught up in the system and didn’t get out quite in time before the damage affected him. Big brother Drew waited until he aged out before getting him out. He had his reasons so don’t think badly of him. He is my favourite brother and another character that I absolutely adore and can’t wait for his book! It’s coming up next!
Carly. What a beast of a character! I mean that in the best possible way, of course! She’s like a Charlotte Taggart minus the whole Russian Mob training. She wouldn’t hurt a flea and was stuck in a tight spot brought on by other people, which I suppose some would see as weak, but I don’t. She didn’t fight because she was protecting someone else. To me that is brave. She suffered for years at the beck and call of a monster bitch-hole not to mention ass-hole ex-husband and she did it all for her sister. She’s awesome and can handle all of the men in this book and yes… that includes Ian Taggart who makes an appearance to my huge delight! Not too many people can handle Ian right out of the gate. Gotta give her huge props for that.
The story is far from done! There is one more book and the one I’ve been waiting for from the beginning. I mentioned that Drew was my fave and his book, aptly titled REVENGE, will be out next. I cannot friggin’ wait! Lexi Blake the little sneak always puts a last chapter or at minimum a couple of pages to end you on a note that leaves you hanging onto a slim branch for dear life. As much as it drives me crazy it’s also one of my favourite things about her books. She always leaves you BEGGING FOR MORE!
