The recent Strigoi attack at St. Vladimir’s Academy was the deadliest ever in the school’s history, claiming the lives of Moroi students, teachers, and guardians alike. Even worse, the Strigoi took some of their victims with them . . . including Dimitri. He’d rather die than be one of them, and now Rose must abandon her best friend, Lissa—the one she has sworn to protect no matter what—and keep the promise Dimitri begged her to make long ago. But with everything at stake, how can she possibly destroy the person she loves most?
I love these characters so much and the surprises that kept popping up. I thought I had a few things guessed before the end but I didn’t. Well, maybe one thing, but it didn’t matter. That one thing made me happy that I was right… not disappointed for guessing it. Richelle Mead is very good at this!
Rose is phenomenal… Lissa whom I thought should grow a backbone sometime kicked ass… Adrian is becoming the character I want him to be and I’m so happy for that. I think he’s adorable! I love Christian’s attitude and spark… and well… Dimitri. I adored him as a good guy and now I adore him even more as a villain! He rocks!
The plot thickens and I’m left craving for more. I love a series like that. Not that I enjoy *waiting* for a new release, but knowing that I can’t wait for it to come proves how much I’m loving the series. It justifies my spending the money on good books.
With each book in this series I find the beginning a little slow, but every single time it has picked up and by the end of the book I’m wanting more. I almost think it’s a good thing that it is a little slow in the beginning because it makes me appreciate the ending that much more. To clarify.. when I say slow I just mean that there isn’t much going on but it’s not too slow that I don’t want to turn the pages. I’m still learning new information and meeting new characters. It just means that I read a couple of chapters and go to bed rather than staying up until 3am frantically flipping to the next page.
