(description from Goodreads):  Carley Mattea never expected to become friends with a boy as handsome as Kyle Westin--especially not in the hospital. Seventeen-year-old Kyle was blinded when a chemistry experiment exploded. His doctors don't know whether he'll get his vision back, and he's deeply depressed. Carley understands how miserable it is to be in the hospital. At sixteen, she's had plenty of experience. But Carley is keeping a secret from Kyle. She knows boys like girls who are pretty--and she's not. Scarred by a facial deformity, she has always used her sense of humor to cope. But now that she's become so close to Kyle, she's worried that if his bandages are removed and he sees her, it will be the end of their relationship. Carley wants what's best for Kyle. But what will that mean for her?
My Thoughts                  Green swirls

I’ll start off by saying that this was a nice little story.  It shows what you would hope that your teenage kids would be like in a situation such as this one…. but I just don’t believe it.  Maybe I’m being cynical, and if so I apologize for that but I just don’t believe it.

I do believe the feelings that Carly was having about herself.  Absolutely.  I can see where she would put her humour out there to cover up what she was truly feeling and for protection… a wall so to speak.    I’m just not sure I buy into the whole “it doesn’t matter to me what you look like” thing that Kyle was putting out there.
Again, it was nice to read it.  It made you feel warm and fuzzy inside and hopeful but to me it’s not real.   Still, it was a cute little story.
I don’t like how it ended either.  View Spoiler » I feel it ended too soon.   At the very least have an epilogue View Spoiler »
I feel ripped off!
