SOME NIGHTMARES NEVER END. For Janie and Cabel, real life is getting tougher than the dreams. They're just trying to carve out a little (secret) time together, but no such luck. Disturbing things are happening at Fieldridge High, yet nobody's talking. When Janie taps into a classmate's violent nightmares, the case finally breaks open -- but nothing goes as planned. Not even close. Janie's in way over her head, and Cabe's shocking behavior has grave consequences for them both. Worse yet, Janie learns the truth about herself and her ability -- and it's bleak. Seriously, brutally bleak. Not only is her fate as a dream catcher sealed, but what's to come is way darker than she'd feared....
Even better than the first book Wake. I just love Lisa’s writing style. It’s such a good series and I can’t wait for the 3rd book. It’ll be called Gone and it’s coming out I believe either later this year or early 2010. Can’t wait!
Wake started us out being introduced to Janie. A young teenage girl dealing with a crappy alcoholic mother who doesn’t even seem to know of Janie’s existence nor does she seem to care. She only cares about waking up in the morning to get her drink and goes back to bed for the duration of the day. Janie has full run of the house and does all the cleaning and shopping and paying bills. Janie has lived like this her entire life. She also lives with an ability of jumping into people’s dreams. It’s not something she can control. It just happens. She meets up with Cabel and starts falling very hard for him only to find that he’s not who he appears to be. Eventually she finds out the truth and they end up working together for the police department BECA
USE of her ability.
Then in FADE everything seemed to double in intensity. Janie & Cabel are great characters each with their own horrible history. I’d say childhood, but they’re barely out of their childhood. They’re only 18 and have so much baggage that it’s simply unfair to anybody, especially so young. They have each other and that’s just so warming and comforting to read about. Their relationship is still growing and struggling with each new development in Janie’s ability. Also, new found information to her that will affect her own future as well might affect her future with Cabe. They are still working for the police undercover and as a result cannot be seen together in public other than fellow students. Will their relationship hold with all of the problems on both sides? Will they continue to work together? Who knows? I guess I have to wait for Gone! Such bummer. I don’t have much patience you know!
