(description from Amazon):  Luis Fuentes is a good boy who doesn't live with the angst that his big brothers, Alex and Carlos, have always lived with. Luis is smart, funny, and has big dreams of becoming an astronaut. But when he falls for the wrong girl, Luis enters a dark world he's never known, and just when he thinks he's got life all figured out, learns some disturbing news about his family that destroys his positive outlook on life. Will that Fuentes bad boy streak come out with a vengeance and lure Luis to live on the edge like his new girlfriend and his own father?

My Thoughts

Green swirlsAgain, another great read from Elkeles.  I’m surprised that I liked these books.  It’s out of my norm and like I said about Rules Of Aattraction, I could list a bunch of stuff I didn’t like but I just don’t want to.  I read this in an even shorter time than I read Rules of Attraction…. and I think I like this one better.  I’m a huge Carlos fan, but I really like Luis now too.  I guess what it is, is that I like all of the characters (and I’m sure I’ll like Alex’s story too) but Luis’s story was a better one than Carlos, but it doesn’t mean I like his character more than Carlos…. I hope I make sense.

I’m still very very VERY pissed that I can’t get this first book on Kindle.  I have to buy the paperback, which means that I’ll have all the books but on different formats and that just drives me nuts!!  So, I’ll end up buying all of them in paperback eventually but that pisses me off because I’ve already paid full price for the kindle version.  Aarrggghhhh. Anyway, back to the books.  I loved them.  I don’t know why, but I do.  The covers are really awesome too.  They are taken right out of a scene from the books.   Cool.

Awesome I loved it

About Simone Elkeles

Simone Elkeles is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of novels for teens. Simone’s books have won many awards including being YALSA Top Ten Quick Picks for Reluctant Young Adult Readers, being named to the YALSA Popular Paperbacks and Teens Top Ten lists, and added to the Illinois “Read for a Lifetime” Reading List. Simone also won the coveted RITA award from the Romance Writers of America for her book Perfect Chemistry. Simone is especially proud of the fact that the Illinois Association of Teachers of English named her Author of the Year.

Simone was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, where she still lives today. Simone went to the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and received her Bachelor’s of Science there in Psychology in 1992. She continued her education at Loyola University-Chicago where she received her Master’s of Science degree in Industrial Relations while working for a manufacturing company creating diversity programs for their employees.

She loves animals (she has two dogs – a labradoodle and a German Shepherd), kids (she also has two of those) and her family. In her spare time she’s the Hockey Mom for her kids hockey teams and is an active Girl Scout leader specially trained in outdoor education. She also spends time mentoring other teen and adult authors. (She also loves sushi, which you can probably tell by reading her books.) Simone writes about teens because she was a teen in the 80’s (when spiked hair and blue eye shadow were “rad”) and she loves writing about those exciting teen relationships and romances.
