The sister Narissa has protected for years can't decide if she wants to go with her. And, of course, Narissa has no idea how to return to the splinter reality. Complicating matters, Narissa discovers she can no longer avoid the problems her unexpected trip allowed her to escape. Through it all, there's one thing that keeps her going. She's not the only person to have left The Refuge.
Ahhh I am so into this series. I thought the first book was amazing but this one is just “as” if not “more” amazing. I don’t want to say I like it better because I loved the first one just as much but this one was jammed packed full of surprises. Talk about developing and characters growing! Wow. This book exploded in that respect! So much development in the characters as well as the story that your head was spinning but not too much that you were lost nor felt the story was rushed in any way. Perfectly paced and smooth.
Where to begin… Narissa’s character deepened to an even more phenomenal character than I thought she was in book 1. She’s got a devastating history to her that would make anyone be miserable and self absorbed and yet in book 1 she was giving and caring… and strong willed and determined. Now I know where all that strength came from.
Maera, Narissa’s sister that she had to come back for, is a great little character too. She turned out to be a lot tougher and stronger than Narissa thought she would be. It turns out that her coming back was a good thing because although she may not feel like she was needed, she helped a lot I think. She got her back in touch with her father and assured that her mother couldn’t use her for her money and things will be just fine for her now.
Daman! OMGosh! He’s just more adorable with every chapter. He had a huge growth spurt too as far as his character goes. That boy’s got some secrets and history of his own that was revealed.
Luke and Kauri are simply just the bestest friends anyone could ask for. Amazing.
Turns out I may actually like Tafari. Who knew?
Kyle and Felix… YAY!! So excited about these two.
I could probably rave some more, but I need to dive into book 3. I’m just so excited by this series. I absolutely ADORE it!!!!
