Genres: Paranormal, Young Adult

Okay, I’m not doing a review just yet but I just had to post something about this amazing author!!!  I stumbled upon her quite by accident while browsing for a Kindle book.  I’ve resigned myself to buy all of my current collections in real book format but anything new I’ve been getting in Kindle version to justify my birthday present, which was the Kindle itself.  The Kindle in no way replaces the experience of a real life book, but I’ve got to say the convenience is quite astonishing.  I’ve got the Kindle itself, the Kindle app for my iPod touch and the Kindle for PC on my laptop.  I love it, but I also still love to collect books and I can’t see that stopping anytime soon.

Now that I’ve got that little blurb out of the way… Amanda Hocking!!  I stumbled upon her like I mentioned while browsing the Kindle books.  They were only $2.39 each and I thought, “why not?”

Well, I just may have stumbled upon one of the best series since Twilight!  Okay, maybe that’s quite a statement to make considering that Twilight is and always will be my favourite, but man I gotta say this My Blood Approves series is amazing.  I’m loving it.  I read the first two books in less than 3 days and I’m on the 3rd right now and I love it so much!

It’s a YA series about vampires (what else?) but it’s a bit different than others.  I can’t get enough.

Amanda has this knack for making her writing flow so nicely that you don’t get bored with it at all and there is always something to look forward to, but yet at the same time things get wrapped up so that you’re not wanting to rip her head off for leaving you hanging.

Once I’m finished with all 4 books (… and I’m hoping there’ll be more) I’ll post my reviews, unless I get some time before then.

Just had to get this out.

About Amanda Hocking

I live in Minnesota, and I write young adult paranormal romance and urban fantasy mostly. The My Blood Approves series is about vampires in Minneapolis, and its available now. I also wrote the Trylle Trilogy, which is a paranormal romance without vampires, shifters, mermaids, fae, angels, dragons, ghosts, or ninjas.

My latest book is Hollowland – a zombie urban fantasy set in the dystopian near future. It’s a bit more violent and gritter than my other books, but there is still romance. Mostly though, Remy kicks a lot of butt.

I also enjoy Red Bull, Jim Henson, Batman, Jane Austen, Star Wars legos, and I absolutely hate long walks on the beach out of my intense fear/hatred of wet sand

My favorite authors are Kurt Vonnegut, Chuck Palahniuk, Bret Easton Ellis, Alan Moore, and J. D. Salinger, but I don’t write anything like them. I have an obsession with River Phoenix, and I’ve seen Silence of the Lambs more than any other movie, even The Dark Knight. If I were trapped on a deserted island, the one thing I’d take with me would be a boat capable for taking me home.

I’m also the guitarist in a band called the Fraggin Aardvarks, and even though its even twice as cool as it sounds, we haven’t had a practice in like two years, so I’m not sure that technically we are still a band. But we never broke up, and it’s an awesome thing to tell people, so I’m sticking with it. (We even had a synethesizer!)
