A Spy without a Country, Simon Weston grew up royal in a place where aristocracy still mattered. Serving Queen and country meant everything to him, until MI6 marked him as damaged goods and he left his home in disgrace. Ian Taggart showed him a better way to serve his fellow man and introduced him to Sanctum, a place to pursue his passion for Dominance and submission. Topping beautiful subs was a lovely distraction until he met Chelsea, and becoming her Master turned into Simon’s most important mission.
A Woman without Hope, Chelsea Dennis grew up a pawn to the Russian mob. Her father’s violent lessons taught her that monsters lurked inside every man and they should never be trusted. Hiding in the shadows, she became something that even the monsters would fear—an information broker who exposed their dirty secrets and toppled their empires. Everything changed when Simon Weston crossed her path. Valiant and faithful, he was everything she needed—and a risk she couldn’t afford to take.
A Force Too Strong to Resist, when dark forces from her past threaten her newfound family at Sanctum, Chelsea must turn to Simon, the one man she can trust with her darkest secrets. Their only chance to survive lies in a mystery even Chelsea has been unable to solve. As they race to uncover the truth and stay one step ahead of the assassins on their heels, they will discover a love too powerful to deny. But to stop a killer, Simon just might have to sacrifice himself…A Masters and Mercenaries Novel by Lexi Blake
Have you ever read a book where you were so invested in it that you felt like you couldn’t breathe if you had to put it down for even a second?
That’s exactly how I felt with A View To A Thrill. Lexi Blake is absolutely a phenomenal writer. I love her! I’m in awe of her amazing talent of weaving a story through the words (hills), pages (valleys) and chapters (bridges) to bring you right into it for yourself. I almost didn’t feel like I was reading but rather viewing the story as it unfolded. That’s an awesome feeling to have when you’re reading. It’s a true escape from the world around you.
So I’ve been a mega huge big fan of this series from the very beginning. It all began with Sean Taggart’s story and each book tells another member of McKay-Taggart’s story. I hate to finish a book because I’m left longing for the next but yet when I’m reading I can’t help but devour it like I’m starving to death.
Simon (the Brit) Weston is one of the latest members to join the McKay-Taggart family. I say “family” because that’s exactly what it is. A huge family who love to pick on each other and get on each other’s nerves, but would also die for each other. Simon came from royalty and yet he grew up a very lonely child. His new family is the McKay-Taggart team and in particularly he wants Chelsea. If she would only trust him.
Chelsea Dennis (formerly Denisovitch) has been running her whole entire life from Russian mobsters and her father who brutally abused her as a child. We found out in Charlotte’s and Ian’s story the full effect of that situation. Chelsea hasn’t got much confidence in her self worth and she always feels like she has to be ready to run. Not necessarily from her father any longer, but other people who want her brain power. She’s damaged and the only thing she currently can’t seem to run from is Simon even though she tells herself that she should.
This is a fantastic book! I loved it so much! Honestly I haven’t disliked any of the installments in this entire series. They are all fantastic and they just seem to keep getting better and better. With this particular installment I was so taken with Simon and his story. I instantly fell in love with his character. I liked him in the other books but didn’t know much about him and now I freakin’ love him. I already learned of Chelsea’s story in the last two books so this one here just elaborated more on her personal side of things and it was great watching her learn some things about herself. Truly a heart warming (and heart wrenching at times) tale. Beautiful love story.
I cannot end this review without mentioning my absolutely favourite character in the entire series. Ian Taggart. He is just such a butt-head sometimes, but he’s got to be the most lovable butt-head on the planet. He’s gruff and tough and yet the most important thing to him is his family and that is every member of the McKay-Taggart team and their wives and/or submissives. He is so funny. I love how Lexi Blake writes the dialogue for him.
I’m still being hugged and I didn’t do anything wrong!
What the hell do I do, Charlie?
Couldn’t you bake cookies or something?
Watch out. Apparently now they spontaneously hug you.
This book in all its glory is far beyond all of the hot and steamy D/s scenes. So far beyond. That’s why I love Lexi Blake so much. She gives you everything you could possibly want in a romance and then tops it off with an amazing adventure into the mercenary world and just for your added pleasure gives you some phenomenal dialogue that will have you laughing right out loud at some points and ready to jump into the book and help your fellow characters at others. Yeah, and there are some seriously emotional moments too. She’s got it all in one package.
Phenomenal book! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVED it! Buy it! Read it! Read all of them! You will not be disappointed. Out of all the BDSM/Erotica books I read this series is by far my favourite one. Trust me that says a LOT. I have a few series that I follow and they are all phenomenal but this one tops them all.
