A Man with a Past... Liam O'Donnell fled his native Ireland years ago after one of his missions ended in tragedy and he was accused of killing several of his fellow agents. Shrouded in mystery, Liam can't remember that fateful night. He came to the United States in disgrace, seeking redemption for crimes he may or may not have committed. But the hunt for an international terrorist leads him to London and right back into the world he left behind.
A Woman Looking for a Future... Avery Charles followed her boss to London, eager to help the philanthropist with his many charities. When she meets a mysterious man who promises to show her London's fetish scene, she can't help but indulge in her darkest fantasies. Liam becomes her Dom, her protector, her lover. She opens her heart and her home to him, only to discover he's a man on a mission and she's just a means to an end. When Avery's boss leads them to the traitorous Mr. Black, Liam must put together the puzzle of his past or Avery might not have a future...
A Dom Is Forever is the 3rd in the Masters and Mercenaries series by Lexi Blake. This is another re-read for me. As I mentioned in previous reviews of The Dom Who Loved Me and The Men With The Golden Cuffs I decided to re-read this entire series from start to finish. Or at least to the latest book. I don’t think she’s finished just yet, and I’m so happy about that!
Liam O’Donnell is one of McKay-Taggart’s team members. He’s a phenomenal soldier and a man with a past. A past that he can’t quite remember. There is a lot of unanswered questions that he would love to get his head wrapped around. His latest mission takes him back to London and smack dab in the middle of where if people knew who he was could get him locked up or killed.
Avery Charles travels the world with her boss. A man who is under investigation by McKay-Taggart because he has links to Eli Nelson, Ian Taggart’s nemesis. The team will stop at nothing to track down Nelson. That includes deceiving Avery Charles to get their “in”. They don’t know whether she’s part of it or not, but they can’t find out until they’re on the inside.
Sparks fly in this one!
Liam and Avery make a fantastic couple but will either one of their hearts be able to handle each other? I love love love Liam O’Donnell. Who am I kidding? There hasn’t been a member of the team so far that I don’t love. They are all fantastic characters. Maybe Liam holds a special place in my heart because he’s from Ireland. My mom was born in Ireland so I love anything Irish. Especially the sexy Irish lilt to his commands in the bedroom. He’s a very serious Dom… and he knows immediately that Avery is a sub. She may not know it yet, but she will. I also fall for the troubled boy inside who needs answers to heal.
Avery is so awesome! She’s an incredibly strong person for all that has happened to her. She may not have the best self-esteem but she certainly knows how to understand other people and what they need. She’s got a heart as big as all out doors and when you find out the things that she has done… well, I think people will fall in love with her. Or they might want to smack her for being stupid, but either way it was her big heart that led her to do it.
My favourite character!
I cannot let this review be finished without mentioning my favourite character, Ian Taggart. Again, I know this book is not about Ian and it’s Liam’s book, but in my honest opinion the entire series as a whole is about Ian Taggart. He is present in all of the books just like the rest of the team is, but when you read the books you will know what I mean about Ian. He’s like the star of the show even though there are many characters that you’re learning about in the process. Ian plays such an integral part in each of his team member’s lives that he is the glue. He plays a mega-huge part in Liam’s past and present life. They are all brothers and sisters in this series. Eve, Alex, Sean, Jake and Adam are all Liam’s brothers and sister but Ian is like the oldest brother in a family to protect all of his younger team mates (even Adam) and real brother Sean. He’s a huge character and the series would not be the same without him. I absolutely adore him!
This series ROCKS!
I cannot say enough about this book, this series and the author Lexi Blake. I’ve already raved to an unhealthy amount about Lexi Blake and her ability to write in previous reviews. She’s beyond phenomenal. The way she weaves a story and paces it to perfection is just amazing. She certainly knows how to keep you on your toes and keep you wanting to turn those pages. The way she spells out the setting to make you feel like you’re right there and her knowledge proves her hard work and research. Oh yeah, and the girl knows how to write a romantic sexy hot scene! Oooooh boy, does she ever!
Again, her humourous dialogue is second to none. The one liners that she uses when the characters find themselves in the midst of very serious situations is so hilarious yet doesn’t take you out of the story or lessen the seriousness. Instead it makes you feel as if you are one of the characters and you need a bit of humour to balance your psyche, otherwise you could lose focus.
To read or not to read….
Hell yeah I recommend this book! There is no question! I recommend the entire series from start to finish including the novella’s that revolve more around Ian’s club Sanctum and the members there. They still have our favourite mercenaries popping in as well. They can be read separately or in between in the order they’re meant. All of it is a wonderful escape!
